Highlighting that previous progress had been hindered by the lack of a council majority, he assured citizens that the MDP team is committed to delivering their desired outcomes. Furthermore, noting public concerns regarding the current administration’s actions, the President expressed confidence that the MDP would secure a significant majority in the election.

Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed confidence that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will secure a landslide victory in the upcoming local council elections, asserting that Mayor Adam Azim and the MDP team will deliver the development sought by the residents of Male' City.
He made these remarks during an interview with RaajjeTV while conducting door-to-door campaign activities for the MDP in the North Machangolhi constituency.
President Solih stated that the MDP’s manifesto for the Male’ City Council has now been unveiled, noting that the document was formulated following extensive consultations with the public. He highlighted that the manifesto, launched two nights ago, incorporates the changes desired by the residents of Male’ and outlines priority initiatives that can be implemented immediately.
Reflecting on the performance of the Male’ City Council, President Solih stated that despite efforts to carry out significant initiatives, many projects have come to a standstill due to the lack of a council majority. However, he expressed full confidence that in the upcoming term, MDP candidate Adam Azim and the party’s team will work together to deliver the results the public desires.
God willing, in our next term, Adam and our team will work together to bring about the changes desired by the people and deliver the expected results. Furthermore, President Solih stated that there are significant public concerns regarding the current administration's policies. He noted that it is becoming increasingly clear to the citizens that the government's actions do not align with its rhetoric. Consequently, he expressed hope that voters would take this into account during the upcoming election and grant a substantial majority to the MDP.
The MDP is currently conducting a robust campaign targeting the Male' City mayoral seat and several council vacancies. Political analysts view this election as a crucial opportunity to gauge the level of public support for the government's policies.
