President Muizzu meets with Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister
During the inauguration ceremony of Bangladesh's new government, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the newly appointed Prime Minister to offer his congratulations on the recent electoral victory. During the meeting, both leaders discussed strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations, with a particular focus on enhancing cooperation in the sectors of trade, healthcare, and education.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the newly elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, on Tuesday.
The meeting took place following the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister and the inauguration of the new government.
During the meeting, President Muizzu congratulated Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on their success in the 13th parliamentary elections held in Bangladesh on February 12. Furthermore, President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the close ties and bilateral relations between the two nations.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to President Muizzu for attending the ceremony. According to the President’s Office, the two leaders also discussed expanding trade and investment between their nations, as well as strengthening cooperation in the fields of healthcare, environment, higher education, and aviation.
This marks President Muizzu's first official visit to Bangladesh.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh were established on September 22, 1978.
