The President has departed for Bangladesh on an official visit
During his visit to attend the inauguration ceremony of Bangladesh's new government, the President is scheduled to hold a meeting with the country's new Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departed on an official visit to Bangladesh on Monday night.
This visit is being undertaken at the invitation of His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The purpose of the trip is to attend the inauguration ceremony of the country's new government. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 17, 2026.
During the President's upcoming visit from February 16 to 18, he is scheduled to meet with His Excellency Tarique Rahman, the newly elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh were established on September 22, 1978.
