Leadership figures from the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have departed for the atolls to launch campaign activities for the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections.
Following the launch of the campaign for the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections on Thursday night, MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Nazil and several general members of the party joined the delegation traveling to the atolls on Friday.
On Friday afternoon, a door-to-door campaign event was held in R. Dhuvaafaru. Speaking to RaajjeMV following the conclusion of the event, MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Nazil stated that the most notable takeaway from the activity was the extent to which the public has recognized President Muizzu’s falsehoods. He further noted that despite the administration being two and a half years into its term, no developmental progress has been achieved for Dhuvaafaru.
Two and a half years have passed, yet there is not a single foundation stone to be seen for any new project on this island. Consequently, the residents are convinced that progress only occurs under an MDP administration. They believe that without the MDP, the people of this island will not see prosperous days. It was clearly evident that the residents stand firmly with the MDP team.Ibrahim Nazil
Nazil stated that the only visible progress in Dhuvaafaru remains the work completed by the MDP administration. He noted that after two years of stalled development projects, the residents of Dhuvaafaru have now rejected the current government.
