Political animosity is no excuse for inciting murder: Azim

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that calling for the assassination of individuals is unacceptable, regardless of existing political animosity.
Azim made these remarks in reference to comments by former Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Musthafa, who suggested that former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih should be executed by hanging.
Azim stated that calling for the death of any individual is unacceptable, regardless of any underlying political or personal animosity. He further emphasized that such threats must be treated as a serious matter and thoroughly investigated.
Former Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Musthafa has directed a series of profane insults at former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in a post on X (formerly Twitter). In his post, Musthafa called for the former president to be executed by hanging. He further remarked that it was a stroke of luck for Solih that someone like Musthafa was not currently in power.
Members of the public and political figures are calling for a thorough investigation into the matter and for serious measures to be taken in response.
