The second sitting of the current People’s Majlis session, originally scheduled for Monday, has been postponed.
The Parliament Secretariat has announced that the sitting has been rescheduled for Tuesday. However, the administration did not disclose a specific reason for the postponement.
The first sitting of the current parliamentary session was held last Thursday. The proceedings focused on the opening of this year's legislative term and the delivery of the presidential address by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Speaker of the Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla announced that a sitting would be held on Monday during the conclusion of the previous session. Members were subsequently notified to attend the session at approximately 5:00 PM on Sunday.
Members were notified of the session's postponement at 11:12 p.m. on Sunday. The delay comes at a time when several members of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) are notably active across various atolls, campaigning for the upcoming local council elections.
