The National Service Bill, which proposes the establishment of a governing council chaired by the President, has been submitted to Parliament.
The bill stipulates that the Governing Council will be responsible for establishing the policies related to the implementation of the national service program. This council will be composed of the President, the Vice President, the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, the Minister of Finance, the Chief of Defence Force, and the Commissioner of Police. The President of the Republic will also serve as the Chairperson of the council.
The program includes provisions to establish an advisory committee tasked with providing guidance on the formulation of its policies.
This bill seeks to introduce a national service program and establish a robust legal framework for its design and implementation.
