President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has nominated Mariyam Insha as a member of the National Integrity Commission.
Her nomination has since been forwarded for approval to the People’s Majlis.
A letter addressed by the president to the parliament was read out at the Majlis sitting held on Monday, regarding the appointment.
The letter states that under Article 3 of the National Integrity Act, for the appointment of a member to the National Integrity Commission established under the act, as per the procedure in the act, from among those who responded to the announcement, he proposes the name of Mariyam Insha Faisal for appointment to the commission.
The president in the letter requested to pass as the Majlis sees fit regarding her appointment to the position.
On Monday, the Speaker of the Parliament sent the matter to the Committee on Independent Institutions.
Applications for membership of the Integrity Commission were open from November 13 to 20.
