Council member of Bilehdhoo island in Faafu atoll, Aasifa Sulaiman has stated that a list of 19 projects announced by officials at the Ministry of Finance and Planning in connection with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit includes facilities already completed and currently providing services under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.

Muizzu last visited Bilehdhoo on 20 September 2025. Speaking on RaajjeTV’s ‘Fashaairu’ morning talk show on Saturday, Aasifa gave a detailed account of what transpired on the island surrounding the visit and the current situation.

She said finance ministry officials arrived ahead of the president and disclosed the total number of development projects expected to proceed. According to Aasifa, councillors were wide-eyed and deeply surprised when officials claimed that 19 projects were planned.

She clarified that within this list were the school’s multipurpose hall, the health center’s new office building, the Fenaka office, and the new powerhouse. facilities completed during the previous administration and already in operation. Despite this, these completed facilities had been included as part of the 19 projects.

Emphasizing that no new development work is currently underway in Bilehdhoo, Aasifa said that by the end of Solih’s term, materials and work sites for the harbor and land reclamation projects had already been prepared. She noted that these projects are also among Muizzu’s pledges.

Aasifa stated that during the president’s visit, foundation stones were laid for some projects, but all have since come to a halt.

She added that development projects are being announced to align with elections, with the intention of deceiving the public, and that there is no genuine intention to carry out the work. She said officials of the current government are also exploiting the satisfaction people feel when the president visits islands and announces projects.
