Council member of Bilehdhoo island in Faafu atoll, Aasifa Sulaiman has claimed that the five years under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih represented the island’s golden age of development.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s ‘Fashaairu’ morning talk show on Saturday, Aasifa said the administration oversaw several development projects on the island, many of which were completed and are now providing services.

She highlighted that major longstanding issues were resolved during this period. A modern powerhouse was constructed, ensuring a stable electricity supply, and water services were established as well.

The persistent shortage of school space was addressed with the construction of a multi-purpose hall. She also noted significant efforts to improve health services, including the construction of a new office building for the health center.

Aasifa stated that, aside from Solih’s administration, the island had been severely neglected and isolated under all previous governments. She asserted that the past five years constituted the true golden age of development for Bilehdhoo in its recent long history.

According to Aasifa, residents now acknowledge the development achieved during Solih’s tenure and continue to desire similar projects. She expressed concern, however, that all projects have been halted under the current government of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
