Shakeeb has received widespread congratulations from colleagues, athletes, and sports officials, who have praised his decades of service and dedication to the development of sports in the Maldives.

Dr. Ahmed Shakeeb, more commonly known as "Doc", has been appointed to the Medical Committee of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), marking a proud milestone for Maldivian sports representation at the continental level.

According to the Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM), Shakeeb’s appointment was confirmed during the AVC Board of Administration meeting held in Thailand on September 6. While he was nominated earlier in September, the official announcement was made following the board's decision.

In a statement, VAM congratulated Shakeeb on his selection to what it described as a “prestigious position”, and expressed appreciation for his longstanding dedication to the health and performance of Maldivian athletes.

Dr. Shakeeb is considered one of the Maldives’ most experienced and respected sports doctors. Over the years, he has played a crucial role in supporting national teams and athletes across multiple disciplines. He has notably served as the team doctor for the Maldives senior national football team, and held senior roles within the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), including that of Senior Vice President.

He also contributed to FAM’s administrative reform process, serving on the FIFA Normalization Committee when the international body first intervened to oversee structural changes in Maldivian football governance.

Beyond national borders, Dr. Shakeeb is recognized as a prominent figure in the regional sports medicine community, making his appointment to the AVC Medical Committee both fitting and timely.

Following the announcement, Shakeeb has received widespread congratulations from colleagues, athletes, and sports officials, who have praised his decades of service and dedication to the development of sports in the Maldives.
