The main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that the rally that was scheduled to be held in Kulhudhuffushi City on Friday has been postponed to Saturday due to unfavorable weather.
MDP has revealed that according to the Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS)'s forecast, several regions across the country were expected to experience rain showers on Friday. Authorities advised against traveling with large groups due to the adverse weather conditions. Consequently, if the weather improves on Friday night, travel will take place then. The MDP leadership has since rescheduled the Kulhudhuffushi rally for Saturday.
MDP has made extensive preparations for the rally to be held in Kulhudhuffushi City to mark the party's 20th anniversary. Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also arrived in Kulhudhuffushi to participate in the rally.
The party has decided to conduct numerous activities to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
In addition to this, the “Ran Reendhoo” running event is scheduled to be inaugurated on July 18. While the government has yet to confirm a venue for the event in Hulhumalé, the MDP has announced their intention to proceed as planned.
The party had earlier announced plans to commemorate their anniversary with a series of rallies and diverse activities spread throughout the year, beginning on June 26.
