Amid deteriorating weather conditions across several regions of the Maldives, MMS has issued a warning urging seafarers to exercise heightened caution

One of the two individuals who were in critical condition after a supply boat ran aground near Kumundhoo island in Haa Dhaal atoll, has died.

The boat, which was traveling from Kulhudhuffushi City in the same atoll, to Funadhoo island of Shaviyani atoll, ran aground near Kumundhoo. At the time, there were four people on board.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that these included two expatriates and two Maldivians.

The police institution went on to reveal that all four individuals were rescued and taken to Kulhudhuffushi City. Of the two individuals in critical condition, a 66-year-old Maldivian man died at around 10:30 while receiving treatment at the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.

The police institution has stated that they are investigating all necessary aspects related to the incident.

Regarding the incident, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that when the boat ran aground, there were four individuals onboard, of whom two were in critical condition. MNDF also revealed that the other two individuals, apart from those in critical condition, were picked up by another supply boat sent by the owner of the stranded vessel.

Amid deteriorating weather conditions across several regions of the Maldives, the Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a warning urging seafarers to exercise heightened caution.
