An 18-year-old youth has been injured in an assault reported in Fuvahmulah City.

On Wednesday, Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that a case of physical assault and violence was reported on Tuesday night at around 8:54pm in Fuvahmulah City.

The police institution highlighted that the victim of the assault is an 18-year-old Maldivian man.

They also mentioned that among the visible injuries, the victim's nose and mouth were split, his right cheek was swollen, and he had sustained additional minor injuries.

Further, the police institution revealed that the youth has been transferred to southernmost Addu City for further treatment.

The police have not shared any additional details regarding the stabbing. It is unclear whether anyone has been arrested or not in connection with the case.

However, further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
