The Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) has opened applications for the position of Secretary General.
The position of SG at Broadcom became vacant after Mariyam Zeeniya, who held the position, was dismissed for allegedly not cooperating in implementing the commission's decisions.
Applications of the vacancy were opened on Thursday.
In an announcement made by Broadcom, it was stated that the opportunity to apply for this position will be open until 1pm on June 23.
Along with the announcement made by the commission on Thursday, details of the qualifications required for the position, the responsibilities of the position, and the documents to be submitted when applying for the position have been made public as well.
According to the announcement, the position is open to individuals between the ages of 25 and 55. The commission has stated that education and experience in a related field will be considered when a Secretary General is appointed.
The person selected for the position of Broadcom’s SG will receive a salary, living allowance, phone allowance, and other allowances set in relation to the job responsibilities. The salary is set at MVR 20,500, with a MVR 15,000 living allowance and MVR 700 allocated as a phone allowance.
In addition to this, the SG of Broadcom will receive other allowances set in relation to the job responsibilities. The announcement states that the performance of the SG's responsibilities will be evaluated annually.
A petition was submitted to the People's Majlis on May 18, claiming that the president and members of Broadcom were endlessly obstructing the staff of Broadcom from carrying out their job responsibilities.
The petition stated that the president and some members of the commission were interfering in all administrative matters of the commission without any limit or respect for the administrative structure, obstructing the duties of the Secretary General and Directors of the institution.
