An official ceremony to hand over her appointment letter, was not held
The parliament approved her appointment to a vacancy at the commission on 21 February 2024

Aminath Nuzha has received her Letter of Appointment as a member of the Broadcasting Commission of Maldives (Broadcom), by the President’s Office.

Nuzha confirmed with RaajjeMV that she received her Letter of Appointment at home, some time on Monday.

The President’s Office did not hold an official ceremony to hand over her Letter of Appointment, as usually done.

According to the protocols that are followed presently, appointed members of the commission are summoned to the President's Office and handed over the letter at an official ceremony attended by the president. This has been the practice since the commission was established.

However, no such ceremony was held for the former RaajjeTV journalist.

Her official appointment comes nearly a month after the People’s Majlis approved her appointment to the post.

The parliament approved her appointment to a vacancy at the commission on 21 February 2024.

The vacancy at Broadcom came after the resignation of Ahmed Gais, who earlier served as the commission’s vice president and as a member.

Names were sent for parliament approval back in February 2023.

Nuzha was employed as a journalist, presenter, and news anchor at RaajjeTV.
