The family of 21-year-old Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who was found fallen from the ninth floor of a building in capital Malé City onto the roof of an adjacent warehouse on April 18, has stated that they do not trust the commission formed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to investigate the incident.

In a message delivered during a digital protest held on social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday night as part of the ongoing protest to seek justice for Yumnu under the name "Dhuleh Nukurannan" which loosely translated means “Will Not Let This Go”, the family said they do not believe justice for Yumnu can be achieved through the commission and that they were not consulted in any way regarding the matter.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Mohamed Moomin, the victim’s brother-in-law, revealed that the family does not support the presidential commission and does not trust the commission to deliver justice.

He went on to highlight that they will continue their efforts to seek justice.

The five-member Presidential Commission formed to investigate Yumnu's case is chaired by former Attorney General Dr. Mohamed Munavvar. In addition to him, the commission includes Brigadier General (Retired) Ahmed Mohamed, medical doctor Moosa Murad, clinical nurse Jabeen Mohamed, and a senior official from the Family Protection Authority, Aminath Eenas.

The family has made these remarks at a time participants in the serial youth protests have also stressed that they do not trust the presidential commission to serve justice for the victim.
