President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has asserted that his presidential manifesto functions as the national development plan, maintaining that the pledges within it will be formally incorporated into this plan.
During a meeting with Henveiru-ward residents at Kalaafaanu School on Sunday night, he claimed that the public elected him based on their acceptance of the proposals he presented.
He stated that the public’s vote for his manifesto and its promises demonstrates their priorities and understanding.
The president asserted that major decisions are being made with what he described as a clear grasp of the public’s perspective.
He repeated that he remains committed to carrying out all tasks while staying attuned to public sentiment and aspirations, with the stated aim of delivering the best possible outcomes.
He also maintained that all actions are conducted through a consultative process.
Acknowledging public reactions to certain issues, he noted that amendments to existing laws would be introduced where he deems them necessary.
Earlier, during a Cabinet meeting on 16 September 2024, Muizzu had decided to initiate work on formulating the Maldives’ National Development Plan for the next 20 years.
He said the plan is expected to be completed within the next year and will be developed with broad public participation and input from relevant stakeholders, in alignment with what he described as the aspirations of the people.
