Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has slashed overtime pay for its employees.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, an employee at MPL noted that HR had sent a message to the group on Tuesday informing that overtime pay would not be provided, but it had not been officially announced through a memo.
RaajjeMV has obtained a screenshot of the message. The message states that due to extreme budget constraints, the CEO has advised to stop all overtime work across all departments for the next six months.
Therefore, employees have been instructed to complete assigned tasks during official hours and to prioritize official hours when planning work. It also states that in the future, overtime pay will only be given to employees who come to the office under special permission in case of sudden emergencies.
In addition to this, the last employee leaving the department or section has been requested to turn off all the lights and air conditioners. They have also been instructed to keep the air conditioner temperature at 25 or above.
Regarding the issue, MPL's media official said that they had not received such information and that it had not been announced through a memo. He also said that they would disclose the information after verifying it.
