A vessel anchored off the coast of Reethi Rah Island Resort in North Malé Atoll has been set ablaze.

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that it was notified of the fire at around 22:52 on Sunday and had dispatched rescue officers immediately.

The vessel, called ‘Diamond’ and operated by local company Coastline Investments, had been carrying three Maldivians and one expatriate at the time. None of those on board had sustained any injuries.

While there was a container on board, the MNDF’s Coast Guard said that it can only ascertain the damage to goods after it investigates the incident.
