Protesters have demonstrated in front of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) office, calling for the resignation of its CEO and Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office Heena Waleed.

During the protest held on Wednesday, participants shed light on several corruption allegations against Heena. They stated that neither the government nor Heena has responded to these allegations, which is a matter of grave concern for the public.

Protesters said that NSPA is an institution closely linked to the public, entrusted with providing services to the citizens. They stressed that if there is uncertainty about the funds entering the agency, the person in charge must be held accountable. They also expressed great concern about the difficulties in accessing NSPA and Aasandha services under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government, causing hardship for citizens seeking these services.

Highlighting the increase in people begging for medical treatment, protesters noted a rise in families organizing multiple events on social media platforms and streets to seek financial assistance for those suffering from serious illnesses.

Leading the protest, former State Minister at the Gender Ministry, Ifham Hussain, stated that NSPA is meant to assist those living in the most vulnerable conditions. However, he said that under the current government, there are talks about cutting allowances for people with disabilities.

In addition to this, protesters claimed that they would continue demonstrating in front of the NSPA office until the government and President Muizzu hear their voices. They insisted on holding Heena accountable, stating that officials cannot hide from the public. The protesters demanded Heena's resignation and called for her dismissal if she does not step down voluntarily.
