Ibadullah Adam and Fasuha Ahmed have been crowned the best athletes of this year's National Athletics Championship.
This is the first time both athletes have received the title of best athlete in the National Athletics Championship.
Ibadullah won first place in the 100-meter race in this year's athletics championship.
He won first place in that race after overtaking Hassan Saaid, the fastest runner in the Maldives.
This is the first time since 2013 that an athlete other than Saaid has won first place in the 100-meter sprint.
Further, Ibadulla also came first in the 200-meter race and bagged a gold medal.
He finished the 200-meter race in 21.69 seconds.
Minhal Shamin, who came second place, finished the race in 22.00 seconds.
Third-place winner Najudhaan Abdullah finished the race in 22.17 seconds.
Ibadullah has finished this event with a meet record and he was awarded the title of best athlete.
This year’s national championship saw Fasuha winning first place in the 400 meters, 800 meters and 1,500 meters.
She bagged a total of three golds. She completed the 400-meter race in 57.22 seconds, the 800-meter race in two minutes and 15.96 seconds and the 1,500-meter race in five minutes and 03.51 seconds.
