Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has officiated the Sixth Asian Carrom Championship 2024 award night and closing ceremony.

The Sixth Asian Carrom Championship 2024 was the first international sports competition kicked off in the Maldives this year.

Held from April 26 – May 1, the tournament saw the participation of several Maldivian athletes who bagged awards across different categories.

The event saw VP Latheef conferring awards to runners-up.

Mementos of service were handed to those who assisted in organizing the event as well.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in his first ever presidential address to the People’s Majlis this year, assured that his administration would remain fully committed to develop the sports sector, by prioritizing the concerns facing Maldivian athletes.

The president earlier shed light on plans for the progress of sports associations and help them engage actively in the upcoming fiscal year.

Further, he said announced the commencement of training programmes for Maldivian athletes, aiming for sustained success in sports competitions.
