Former Parliamentarian for Kendhikulhudhoo Constituency Ahmed Easa has been remanded for five days.

Easa was arrested on Saturday, from the protest held in Male’ City calling for the resignation of President Abdullah Yameen.

In addition to Easa, Baa Atoll Council’s former President Adil and a member of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) was arrested. The others had been released from the Court.

The joint opposition had staged protests in Male’ City and other islands, of late.

MDP Leader and former President Mohamed Nasheed had called on to release all, adding that peaceful protest was right.
