The final exams of grades seven, eight and nine have been moved up as the dates initially scheduled for the exams coincide with the fast-approaching parliamentary elections.

According to the ongoing academic year calendar, the second-term exams of students of grades seven, eight and nine are to be conducted from April 16 – 27.

However, the Ministry of Education has brought changes to the dates for exams, after the Elections Commission (EC) delayed the parliamentary polls to 21 April 2024.

In a circular issued to schools on Thursday, the ministry revealed that the final exams for these grades will be conducted on official days, between March 27 to April 25.

The ministry has instructed the schools to reach a decision after discussing with the focal point allocated to the respective schools by EC, if the exams fall on April 20.

With the changes the incumbent administration has brought to the new academic year, the ongoing academic year 2023 will end during April.

The academic session for 2024 will begin on May 26.
