The Ministry of Education has contracted two construction projects in two schools, to two companies.
As such, the two projects are one to construct the new building of the school in Kunahandhoo island of Laamu Atoll and one to construct a multi-purpose hall in Shaviyani Atoll School.
The ministry revealed that under the project to construct a new building at Kunahandhoo School, four classrooms, a library and a laboratory will be constructed.
The construction project was handed over to the North Coast Contractors Private Limited.
Senior Policy Director at the ministry, Moosa Naeem signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry and Director of North Coast Contractors Ali Iyaan signed on behalf of the company, during a signing ceremony held at the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.
The project is valued at MVR 10.59 million.
It was contracted to be completed within 365 days.
Evosun Maldives Private Limited was contracted the project to build a multipurpose hall in Shaviyani Atoll School, for a total of MVR 13.94 million.
The signing ceremony took place at the ministry building and saw Senior Policy Director Naushad Ibrahim signing the agreement on behalf of the ministry with Director of Evosun Hussain Waheed signing on behalf of the company.
The project was also contracted to be completed within 365 days.
Both projects come under the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) of 2021.
The government has initiated a number of projects to make schools more spacious and other such projects including efforts to build more schools.
