Council members of Veyvah island of Meemu atoll have shared the island community’s important development needs with the president.

This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Wednesday.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around concerns facing the island community due to the halted water supply and sewage network project.

Further, councilors shared the need to establish an industrial commercial port on the island.

Discussions touched upon challenges faced by the school, due to the lack of teachers.

The president was also briefed on the need to initiate a project to protect the eroding areas on the island.

Speaking at the meeting, WDC members shared challenges regarding the provision of wages for individuals responsible for cleaning the island.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.

Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers accompanying him on the tour shared latest updates linked to the issues raised, at the meeting.
