Council members of Maaenboodhoo island of Dhaal atoll have engaged in discussions regarding the crucial development needs of the island community, with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
This was done during a meeting the president held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Tuesday.
Discussions at the meeting revolved around pressing concerns facing the island community, including housing shortages and the lack of a practical waste management system.
The councilors urged the government to designate a picnic area as well as a swimming area, as well as to expedite the construction of a sports complex for the youth community.
They further requested the government to fast-track the ongoing development projects.
The president was also briefed on the need to increase allowances for individuals with disabilities.
The island’s WDC members requested the administration to implement a salary for them, as soon as possible.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
