President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has embarked on a tour of several islands in Baa atoll.

The president departed on the three-day visit from Velana International Airport (VIA) on Saturday.

As part of the visit, the president will be visiting several islands in Baa atoll where he will sit down for talks with island residents, councils, and Women’s Development Committees (WDCs).

Further, the president will also be holding discussions with the atoll councils of both north and south of the atoll as well.

The president has on multiple occasions expressed commitment to visit all islands across the nation at least twice within his five-year presidential term.

As part of these efforts, Muizzu will interact with local communities and councils, actively seeking ways to smoothly expedite development initiatives.

The president is expected to engage in discussions regarding the priorities of the island communities, as well as their development vision for their respective islands.

President Muizzu in February undertook a visit to southernmost Addu City and Fuvahmulah City, as well as Thinadhoo City and islands of Gaaf Alif and Gaaf Dhaal atolls. During this tour he engaged in discussions with island communities and councils, except for two councils in Gaaf Alif atoll.

The president most recently undertook a tour of islands in Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal, Shaviyani and Noonu atolls, where he engaged in discussions with councils except one in Noonu atoll.

During these meetings, the president had assured councilors and island residents that the administration would seek ways to address the concerns of the respective communities and tackle the issues raised at meeting, through consultations with relevant authorities.
