Council members of Nilandhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll have acknowledged the special fund for mosques, established by the incumbent administration.

This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Thursday.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around the importance of coastal protection, space constraints in the council office, the necessity of agricultural development, the importance of a city hotel, the need to establish a new harbor, and the inadequate funding for the WDC.

Councilors also proposed to connect the island to Dhaandhoo island, via a bridge.

The government was also urged to expedite the projects currently halted on the island, and to set up facilities for youth development, including handball courts.

Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers in attendance at the meeting, shared latest updates of projects linked to the concerns raised, with the councilors.

The meeting saw Muizzu assuring the councilors that the issues they raised would be addressed and solved.
