The new runway in Hanimaadhoo International Airport has been inaugurated.

This was announced by the Regional Airports Company Limited in a post on social media platform ‘X’.

According to the company, the new runway development was completed with night landing capabilities.

Further, the Phase I development of the runway is expected to be completed by the end of March 2024, with which the new runway will stretch up to 2,460 meters.

The inauguration of the new 1,200-meter runway at Hanimaadhoo International Airport marks a significant step in the development of the airport.

This has been dubbed as a “major” milestone for enhanced connectivity and aviation excellence.

A flight from national airline Maldivian Aero landed at the airport at the inauguration ceremony on Sunday.

Senior officials from Regional Airports Company Limited were onboard the inaugural flight.
