Managing Director of Hunan Construction Investment Group (HCIG) Cai Dianwei and other senior officials from the group have paid a courtesy call on the president of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The meeting took place on Monday.
HCIG’s MD briefed the Maldivian leader on the overview of the company and shared the details of some of their projects.
MD Dianwei went on to express keen interest to further increase cooperation with the Maldives, including increasing people-to-people interaction.
The Maldivian president stated that he was looking forward to solidified cooperation between the governments of Maldives and China and gave assurance of his administration’s full support and cooperation.
Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed to the People’s Republic of China on a state visit on Sunday night. The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping.
The first couple is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials during the visit.
The Maldivian leader has undertaken a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.
While many have been calling on the government to relieve them of their duties, all the government has done so far is suspend the deputy ministers over the racist and Xenophobic comments they made.
