Manadhoo harbor channel dredging, breakwater construction well underway

The harbor channel dredging and breakwater construction project in Manadhoo island of Noonu atoll is progressing well.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Wednesday.
As such, providing the latest updates of the Manadhoo harbor channel dredging and breakwater construction project via social media platform ‘X’, MTCC revealed that the project is well underway.
MTCC revealed that currently ongoing is the jetty construction component, which has reached 70 percent completion.
Further, the company is carrying out work for bed preparation to install jetty columns.
The project had reached overall 75 percent progress by November 2023. MTCC revealed that the construction of the ramp and revetment, were completed that month.
The company completed the channel breakwater operations and construction of ramp in July.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct dredging and excavation operations in an area measuring 13,216 cubic meters and entrance channel dredging operations in an area spanning 17,450 cubic meters.
The project also entails the construction of a 183-meter breakwater, a 188-meter revetment, a concrete bridge measuring 4.5 meters in width and 244 meters in length and a ramp measuring 10 meters by 10 meters.
The company will also construct a 244-meter jetty and a concrete jetty on the south side, measuring 105 meters by five meters.
Other work that comes under the scope of the project includes the installation of navigational aids.
The Manadhoo harbor channel dredging and breakwater construction project is valued at MVR 36.94 million.
The project was contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
