An expatriate in possession of a large stash of alcohol, has been arrested.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that officers in Hulhumalé Phase I conducted an operation on December 11.
During the operation, officers stopped the man, who was operating a vehicle, and confiscated 69 bottles of alcohol from inside the vehicle he was operating.
Upon being presented to the Hulhumalé Magistrate Court for his remand hearing, the 31-year-old expatriate was remanded for a period of 15 days.
The Hulhumalé Phase I police station is currently conducting further investigations in connection with the case.
