President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has briefed Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye Cevdet Yilmaz on his ambitious development vision for the Maldives.
This was done during a courtesy call paid on President Muizzu by the Turkish Vice President on Monday.
The Turkish VP called on the Maldivian leader at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, as part of the latter’s ongoing official trip to Turkey.
Welcoming the Maldivian leader to Turkey, the Turkish VP congratulated him on assuming his presidential duties and responsibilities.
Discussions focused on the close relations between the two countries at the meeting.
They also engaged in discussions regarding views on areas for further collaboration between Türkiye and the Maldives.
Shedding light on his ambitious development program, President Muizzu touched upon the measures he has planned to help him reach his objectives.
Discussions also revolved around the lack of international response to Israel's indiscriminate attacks against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
President Muizzu and the Turkish VP reiterated the strong support of their respective governments for the people of Palestine in their rightful pursuit of an independent, sovereign state of Palestine.
They also reiterated their mutual commitment to further enhance the long-standing ties between the two countries.
President Muizzu is undertaking an official visit to Turkey at the invitation of the President of Turkey.
He is joined by his spouse, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level delegation of senior government officials.
Diplomatic relations were established between Maldives and Türkiye on 28 May 1979. 2023 marks 44 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
