Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has hosted a successful roadshow series in neighboring India.

The roadshows were held in Lucknow, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, India and focused predominantly on connecting with tour operators and travel agents from the Indian market; strengthening trade relationships; and maintaining India as one of the top source markets for the Maldives.

MMPRC states that the series also aimed to elevate individual products and experiences, aligned with their strategies for the Indian market.

The first roadshow was held in Lucknow on 17th July 2023, the second roadshow at Jaipur on the 19th of July 2023, followed by a consecutive third roadshow on 20th July 2023 at Chandigarh.

A total of 22 renowned companies from the Maldivian tourism industry took part in the roadshow, presenting their unique products and services to the Indian market.

MMPRC notes that the participation of so many high-profile travel and tourism companies in this event further spotlights the dedication of the Maldives’ tourism sector towards the preferences of the Indian market, Maldives' top source market for the past 3 years.

MMPRC conducted raffles during the roadshow series and the lucky winner at Lucknow was gifted a free two-day stay at Cinnamon Hotel and Resort. For the raffle held during the roadshows in Jaipur and Chandigarh, the lucky winner from each roadshow was gifted a stay at the JW Marriott and Robinson Maldives respectively.

India has been the top source market for the Maldives post Covid-19. It is currently the top second source market to the Maldives with a total of 120,474 arrivals as of 24th July 2023.
