A state luncheon has been hosted for the First Couple of Seychelles.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed hosted the state luncheon in honor of the Seychelles’ President, Wavel Ramkalawan, First Lady Linda Ramkalawan and the accompanying delegation on Monday afternoon.
The luncheon was held at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi and was attended by cabinet ministers and senior government officials from both countries.
The First Couple of Seychelles arrived in the Maldives on a state visit on Sunday, upon an official invitation by President Solih.
The Seychelles’ first couple’s ongoing visit saw the presidents of both countries holding official bilateral talks, the signing of four key agreements and a joint statement delivered by the two presidents.
The two leaders engaged in discussions of mutual interest, especially on strengthening relations and cooperation.
The Seychelles’ president’s ongoing state visit to the archipelago nation mirrors the close ties enjoyed between Maldives and Seychelles.
The visit is also expected to lead to further collaboration between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations were established between the Maldives and Seychelles on 1 July 1980.
