Vice President Faisal Naseem at the ceremony held to commemorate MWSC’s 28th anniversary

Vice President Faisal Naseem has applauded the exemplary achievements of the Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) over the course of the past 28 years.

VP Naseem made this remark during a ceremony held at the Henveiru Stadium on Thursday to commemorate MWSC’s 28th anniversary.

As such, the Vice President stated that MWSC has made significant strides over the years.

VP Naseem went on to recognize the fundamental right to access safe drinking water and acknowledged the admirable efforts of MWSC in providing this essential service to the public.

Shedding light on the ongoing endeavors of MWSC in conducting several projects throughout Malé City as well as outlying atolls, VP Naseem highlighted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his administration prioritizes ensuring the provision of comprehensive and reliable water and sewerage services across all inhabited islands in the Maldives.

The vice president also acknowledged the vital role played by the dedicated staff of MWSC in fulfilling the administration's commitment.

VP Naseem applauded MWSC's management for recognizing and appreciating the devoted efforts and resilience of its employees and reiterated the administration's unwavering commitment to encourage the development of all islands without discrimination, regardless of population size or specific service requirements, while ensuring the continued provision of essential services.

Thursday’s ceremony saw VP Naseem conferring the ‘Unique Performance Award’ and the ‘Chairman's Award for Excellence’ to the rightful recipients.

The Vice President was presented with a special plaque of appreciation by MWSC.

With a workforce of 1,247 dedicated employees, MWSC is actively engaged in 68 projects across 31 islands under the administration's purview among which includes 28 projects that have been completed, with 40 progressing at different stages of development.

The company was incepted on 1 April 1995.
