Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has met the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Wang Ning.

The vice president called on the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of CPC as part of his ongoing official visit to China, on Friday.

He is in China to attend the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation’.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around avenues of cooperation including tourism, agriculture, green energy, higher education, sports, economy and trade as well as high-level exchanges between both countries among many other topics.

The Maldivian VP reaffirmed hope to further cement the close bilateral ties between the two countries, before wrapping up the meeting.

As part of his visit, VP Latheef earlier on Friday addressed the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation' organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed is accompanying VP Latheef on the trip.
