The Discussions with the construction industry was not held on changing the prices of the company's services, says the Managing Director of Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) Yoosuf Siraj.

Siraj made the comment while speaking at the 'Falasurukhee' program of RaajjeTV.

Speaking at the program, Siraj said there were some complaints about the price changes. As such, he noted that some members of the parliament have raised concern that the increase in waste management fees will increase the cost of living.

Siraj went onto say that decrease in waste produced due to the increase in waste management prices, will be beneficial for the economy.

Changing the prices of the services is not only about gaining more benefit or raising the income of the company, said Siraj.

Furthermore, Siraj went onto say that some sectors were concerned that the changes were too abrupt and is asking for more time to adjust to the changes. He noted that the construction is one such sector.

Siraj added that the ongoing discussions are on seeking ways that will be more convenient for all the parties involved.

Siraj noted that they worked for six months to determine the current prices.

The Managing Director of WAMCO noted that the change in service prices are not on a commercial basis.

WAMCO increased the waste disposal rates of government agencies and companies.

The company also made the decision to charge a fee from those who bring out garbage without separating it.

WAMCO did not bring any changes to the fees charged by public households and businesses.
