Secretary General of the island council in Maduvvari island of Raa atoll, Ahmed Aslam has passed away.
Aslam passed away in an accident after a pickup crashed into him while backing up.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the accident that took Aslam’s life occurred when the pickup crushed him against a wall by accident, while reversing the vehicle.
The accident was reported to the police some time on Sunday afternoon.
Aslam was 40 years of age at the time of his death.
The police cited doctors at the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital having revealed that Aslam succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, the island council revealed that the accident occurred while the driver was attempting to reverse the vehicle into the garage.
The police institution is currently probing the accident.
