Deng Boqing, Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem.

The CIDCA Vice Chairman called on the Maldivian vice president at the President’s Office on Sunday.

The call saw VP Naseem and the CIDCA Vice Chairman shedding light on the long-standing and strong bilateral relationship between Maldives and China, over the course of the past 50 years.

Discussions also focused on the much-improved ties and the commitments between the two countries, fulfilled over recent years.

Speaking at the meeting, VP Naseem highlighted the immense contributions made by the government of China, to the socioeconomic development of the Maldives.

The vice president assured that Maldives would uphold the strong friendship built over the years.

Extensive discussions were also held regarding areas of mutual interest including tourism, healthcare, infrastructure development, climate action as well as adaptation.

VP Naseem also noted that the Maldivian government requires the support of all its partners to deal with the uncertainties of climate change, particularly in acquiring funds to build resilient communities.

Before concluding the meeting, VP Naseem, and the Vice Chairman of CIDCA reiterated their commitment to collaborating closely to strengthen the current ties.

They also reaffirmed their mutual interest in further collaboration.
