President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured that the administration will continue to seek public input for developmental plans.

President Solih made the remarks at a meeting with the island council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members of Maamendhoo Island of Gaaf Alifu Atoll.

The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Maamendhoo Island Council, on Saturday.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih assured the administration's commitment to consult with and seek the public's opinion on its developmental plans.

Discussions at the meeting focused on the administration's developmental agenda for the island and the most pertinent needs and concerns of the island's community.

Concerns raised at the meeting include the need to address coastal erosion, build a new council office, include uninhabited island Hulhimendhoo under the council's jurisdiction, overcome challenges to utilizing the harbor, increase policing services, and provide additional resources required to manage waste better.

The council members also spoke about extending healthcare services to 24 hours, the needs of the school, and expediting the sewerage network and volleyball court projects. The members of the WDC shared the need for a women's gym and highlighted space constraints as their primary concern.

Speaking with the community leaders, President Solih briefed them on the latest on the administration's developmental plans for the island. He also assured them of the administration's commitment to finding solutions to the issues facing the island's community.

A high-level government delegation accompanyed President Solih on the visit.
