First lady Fazna Ahmed has toured the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) and the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT).
The first lady toured the two institutions on Friday morning as part of the First Couple’s ongoing state visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
First Lady Fazna met with the oncology department of KHUH and engaged in discussions regarding the provision of psychosocial support to cancer patients.
She went on to inquire about their cutting-edge healthcare services and professional development strategies.
In DANAT, FL Fazna observed the gemmological laboratories.
Located in Muharraq Governorate, KHUH has high-level medical construction facilities that are equipped with the latest technologies and medical and diagnostic approaches.
KHUH collaborates with academic institutions to train medical, technical, and administrative staff for continuous professional development.
Further, specializing in the testing and study of natural pearls as a reflection of Bahrain’s ancient pearling history, with the intent of protecting and advancing the country’s pearling heritage, DANAT is a world-class gemmological laboratory, education, and research center.
DANAT was established under the guidance of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, during 2017.
The Maldivian First Couple is on a state visit to Bahrain upon the invitation of the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
They are scheduled to return on October 8.
