President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed attended the Fundraising Gala Dinner held to commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Cancer Society of Maldives, on Tuesday.

Fundraising Gala Dinners are held annually by the Cancer Society of Maldives. This years Gala Dinner was held at Hotel Jen Maldives and coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Cancer Society of Maldives.

Six recipients were awarded the society’s outstanding contribution award.

President Solih handed out the awards to three individuals who received the award, while First Lady Fazna handed out the awards to three companies who have provided support to the society.

The First Couple also inaugurated the awareness campaign and participated in the ‘Let’s Get Active’ movement.

The annual Gala Dinner Nights are organized by the Cancer Society of Maldives to raise funds for cancer screenings and to raise awareness about early detection, diagnosis, and screening in order to promote healthier lifestyles.

The aim of the Cancer Society is to contribute towards the well-being of the community by creating awareness about cancer, providing support and circulating information and resources to elevate the experience of people fighting cancer. They also give priority to conducting cancer research and creating a cancer patient registry database in the Maldives.
