First Lady Fazna Ahmed has met with the women’s national basketball team of Maldives.
The First Lady met with the women’s national basketball team of Maldives who will compete in the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Women’s Championship 2022, on Saturday.
At the meeting held at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE), First Lady Fazna encouraged the women’s national team.
The First Lady shared with the members of the team her own experiences in sports and encouraged them to pursue their goals with determination and vigour. She expressed hope that the tournament would be a successful experience.
She also watched the evening practice session of the team.
The team members presented the First Lady with a national team jersey at the meeting.
Prior to the meeting with the First Lady, Vice President Faisal Naseem also met with the women’s national basketball team of Maldives.
The VP met the team on September 20, and encouraged the team to strive for their best at the games. He also spoke about the administration’s commitment to developing sports further and providing more opportunities for Maldivian athletes.
Moreover, the meeting also saw the Vice President handing out jerseys to the team members.
The tournament, the first women’s international basketball tournament to be hosted by the Maldives, will be held from September 25-30 at MCSE, Malé City.
