Deliberations have been held on the operationalization of Raajje Transport Link (RTL)’s ferry service in northern atolls.

On Tuesday, the Cabinet of Ministers deliberated on the operationalization of ferries in zone one of the first phases of the RTL ferry service as well as the launching of Mini Bus Service in Malé

This comes in accordance with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s presidential pledge to establish an Integrated Transport Network in the country.

Senior officials from the President's Office and relevant institutions attended the cabinet working session at the President's Office.

Tuesday’s session saw officials from the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation presenting highlights and the latest updates on the progress of the RTL ferry service and the Malé Mini Bus Service to the Cabinet of Ministers.

Revolving around the progress of the project's implementation efforts to operationalize zones two and three, the presentations revealed that the newly introduced Mini Bus Service in Malé has been gaining public support and cooperation.

Discussions were also held on ways to further improve and elevate these services.

The RTL ferry service is being established in three phases, each of which corresponds to different zones of the Maldives.

The project’s first phase has been made fully operational, covering the northern-most three atolls Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani.
