Asphalt laying for Fuvahmulah City internal roads construction project, begins
The project will see the development of 31 roads with an overall length of 15,932 meters, according to MTCC
The project is valued at MVR 331.05 million

The work to lay asphalt as part of the internal roads’ construction project in Fuvahmulah City, has begun.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the asphalt laying component of the Fuvahmulah Internal Roads Construction Project was inaugurated on Thursday.

The work was inaugurated by Fuvahmulah City Mayor Ismail Rafeeq.

Under the scope of the project includes sub-base preparation of 122,659 square meters, an asphalt wearing course of 95,239 square meters as well as a footpath preparation of 27,450 square meters.

Further, MTCC will be making road markings, installing streetlights and conducting storm water drainage work of 19,940 meters.

The project is valued at MVR 331.05 million.

The project will see the development of 31 roads with an overall length of 15,932 meters, according to MTCC.

MTCC was contracted the project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on 4 July 2019.

The project was mobilized on 23 July 2019.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during a visit to the south of Maldives in March this year, announced several key development projects for Fuvahmulah City as well.

Assuring that his administration is committed to fulfil the development pledges made to the residents of Fuvahmulah during the presidential elections of 2018 as well as the parliamentary elections and local council election campaigns, President Solih shed light on the details of his development vision for the city.
