Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi hosted an official luncheon today in honor of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who is currently on a four-day official visit to the neighboring country. The President attended the luncheon.
President Solih also signed the Visitor's Book after the luncheon, held at the Hyderabad House.
President Solih is accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior government officials and representatives of leading businesses, on the visit. The visit comes upon an invitation by Prime Minister Modi.
Upon arrival at the Receptorium Air Force Station in Palam, New Delhi yesterday, the Maldivian president and his delegation were received by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, the Indian Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and senior officials of the Indian External Affairs Ministry.
The Maldivian president’s visit symbolizes the close relationship between the two countries.
The neighboring country has been an important partner in the island nation’s socioeconomic development.
The Indian government has assisted in a number of key development projects initiated by the Maldivian government, as a result of this partnership.
The Maldivian president will conclude his visit on August 4.
