The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has stated that Canada remains a strong development partner of the Maldives.

Foreign Minister Shahid stated this in his message of felicitations to Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, on the occasion of the 155th Canada Day.

In his message, the Minister conveyed warm greetings on behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, the Government and the people of Canada, on the occasion of the 155th Canada Day.

Foreign Minister Shahid stated that both the countries continue to enjoy close bonds of friendship since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1981 and that the Canada also remains a strong development partner of the Maldives. The Minister noted that Canada is a trusted ally at times of need.

Furthermore, Minister Shahid noted that the strong partnership of Maldives and Canada spans over a multitude of areas of mutual importance, including environmental conservation and climate change.

He stated that he remain confident that the close bonds of trust and friendship between our two countries will pave the way for enhanced cooperation in the future.

The Foreign Minister of Maldives concluded his message by conveying his best wishes for further progress of the people of Canada and the assurances of his highest considerations.
